Annies Ramblings - 27 April 2020
Hi there.
Yes we are open for orders! Not quite the same as being able to get your “Annie’s Fix” with a visit in store, but tell me what you need by email, website, text or phone and I will my best to get it to you by mail or courier. If you live in Ashburton I am happy to delivery your goodies to your mailbox. If you would prefer to pick up, please phone and arrange a time - 027 800 55 44
I know that many of you will have been sewing up a storm over the past few weeks and finding new ways to use ‘the stash’, and I look forward to seeing you finished projects. If your sewing machine or overlocker has let you down, our servicemen will be available. However you will need to phone and make a booking – 027 800 55 44
If you have decided that it really is time for a new sewing machine, the good news it that the Bernina Annual Sale starts this Tuesday 28th April and runs until the end of May. Sales can be completed at this stage, and we will follow up with a one on one lesson when we get to Level 2 of the lockdown. I would urge you to look at the Bernina website which allows you to compare different models and the simulators give you the ability to push all the buttons on the machines and do everything except put your fabric under the pressure foot. If you need some help navigating, please phone me and I will be happy to help.
There are also heaps of free patterns and project ideas on the Bernina website including this very cute cat.

The annie’s website can be a bit of a beast....and I know not everything is on there, but if you can’t find what you need, or you need fabric...phone me or email me! (Are you seeing a recurring theme here???) 027 800 55 44 ☺
We are living in crazy times and finding our new normal and adapting to the changes is what it is all about at this stage. Please support your local businesses, and think before you click and send money off shore through overseas websites.
In terms of what is new in the shop, just arrived in the new range from Anni Downs called Tealicious. Quirky and gorgeous, this will go with all Anni’s other fabrics you have hidden in your stash and there are free downloadable patterns on the Henry Glass website. Think placemats, cup holders, quilts, bags, table runners, cushions and quilts. https://www.henryglassfabrics.net/tealicious/
Over the next few newsletters I look forward to showing you some of the projects I have been working on and the recipes I have been trying out of course.
In the meantime, I am off to make some Anzac biscuits...always a favourite!
Anzac Biscuits
- 100g butter
- ¼ c golden syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 1 c sugar
- 1 c rolled oats
- 1 c desicaated coconut
- 1 c flour
- ½ tsp baking soda
- 2 Tbsp warm water
- 1 c chopped walnuts (optional)
Heat the oven to 160 C on fan bake.
Melt the butter and golden syrup in a large saucepan. Take off the heat and add in all the ingredients except the water and soda. Mix and then add the soda dissolved in water. Shape into small balls and place on baking trays allowing space for spreading. Bake for about 15mins or until golden
Take care and happy stitching,
Rachel
