Annie's Newsletter - Our Bernina Sale Continues

Hi there, I am really not sure what day it is today. These midweek public holidays sort of put everything out of whack!

This week it is all about business as usual (which I know is not very exciting....but nonetheless important!) Our Bernina Sale continues with great savings on machines, overlockers and accessories, wonderful new fabrics keep arriving by the box full and my “to-do” list keeps getting longer!

If you would like a sneak peek at what I am working on at the moment, don’t forget to have a look at the Annie’s Facebook page.

Progress is also being made on my new Bernina Service Workshop with the power cables being laid and the pink bats and the interior lining all being put in place yesterday.

At the moment we are also cutting FQ’s of the “Circus” which is the very pretty new range from Tilda Fabrics. You can also check out some of her pattern ideas and inspiration at http://www.tildasworld.com/category/fabric/

This weekend I am heading south to teach a class for the ladies attending the Raincliff retreat, and then it won’t be long before I am heading to Palmerston North for Rose City Quilters “Tote and Gloat”. https://www.facebook.com/Rose-City-Quilters-225117007831599/

In the meantime.....this week’s recipe is an oldie but a goodie and perfect if your lemon tree (or other citrus) is producing lots of fruit, and you are partial to a bit of peel in your fruit cakes or hot cross buns.

Citrus Peel

Choose fruit with good colour and thin skins. Cut the lemons in half, juice them and either freeze or use in another recipe. Then remove some but not all of the pith and the excess flesh from the fruit. Cover the skins with water, add 2 tsp of water and boil the skins until soft but not mushy. Drain.

Make a syrup with ½ c sugar to 1 cup of water and boil the cooked peel in this for 5-10 minutes. Store in the syrup. (Can also be frozen)

***Before I forget. Thank you for all your votes for the Top Shop Awards. It is not too late to vote (every day!! J )
