Well we have an exciting time coming up with Australian quilt artist Katrina Hadjimichael arriving next Friday for the weekend workshop and the Trunk Show.   (Have you your got your tickets yet?)

Lots of new reproduction fabrics have arrived in as well as a whole range of of Kaffe Fassett spots, and some wonderfully eclectic patterns from Australian Wendy Williams who is known for her bright and very detailed wool applique work.  Check these out on the website.  I am having to hold myself back from starting another four projects!

Also new in are these neat little zip bags which are $22.00 for the set of two.  Great for a gift or as a present for yourself.  After all, a girl can never have too much fabric or too many bags!

The other thing I would like to show you is my Tuffet or footstool.  This is a unique piece of furniture (measures 18” across) that you can make to fit in with your décor or just have fun playing with colour.

We are going to hold this as a class, and I have to warn you that it is not a cheap project, as there is some hardware involved in terms of the turned wooden legs, base and moulded foam which we have put together as a kit.  It is foundation pieced on a pre-printed background using 2” strips or jelly rolls.  It is not difficult to make once your colour choices are made, with the class being held over two days (15-16 October).  More details on the website.

If you are travelling overseas in October and can squeeze in a trip to the Netherlands, a visit to the Open European Quilt Championships (October 20-23) could be well worth a visit.

On to the recipe, and a sweet treat this week.

Domino Cookies

• 125 g softened butter
• ½ c brown sugar
• ½ c white sugar
• 1 egg
• 1 ½ c flour
• ½ cocoa
• ½ tsp baking soda
• 125 g white chocolate buttons, roughly chopped.

Preheat the oven to 180 C.

Beat the butter and sugars until creamy, add the egg and beat well.

Sift in the dry ingredients and mix to combine before adding the chocolate and mixing again.

Put spoonfuls of the mixture onto greased oven trays and bake for 12-15 mins or until the cookies feel firm.
