Annie's Newsletter - Pre-Mother’s Day Special
Hi there. I hope you all had a fantastic, very productive and chocolate filled Easter break and are now looking forward to another day off next week for Anzac Day. We will be closed Tuesday as I plan to have a full on day sewing that will start right after the dawn service.
Our Annual Bernina Sale continues and we have a whole table of beautiful bolts of fabrics which are 30% off as we are making room for the boxes of new stuff that keeps arriving...so what are you waiting for? It is time to get sewing! If you need inspiration we have lots of lovely new books as well. This is also a good time to start dropping hints about Mother’s Day.
Speaking of inspiration, I have just re-ordered more copies of the latest Inspirations magazine which has an excellent article about one of favourite designers Sue Spargo along with a gorgeous pattern for a needlecase. Of course all there are all regular features and projects that we expect from this magazine ($19.90), as well as plenty of hints and tips for those of us who were born with a needle in our hand!
This week we also have a special on this very handy product from Omnigrid which is great when you are going to class, going on holiday or to have in the caravan or camper. It is a folding ironing mat/cutting board that measures 8” x 11” each side. Usually $69.00 as a pre-Mother’s Day special we are offering these at $59.00
Other things not to forget....
Wool class this Saturday. (10-4) $20.00 for the day and everyone is welcome.
There are still a few places available for the RENU recycled clothing workshop with Diane Dynes 5-6 August. (Details on the class page)
Don’t forget about the Foundation Piecing Class that is coming up on Saturday 8 July. This is a great way to learn, play and get the hang of this technique in a completely non-threatening way...especially is you are planning to come to our class with Katrina Hadjimichael later in the year.
And.........please don’t forget to vote for us for the TOP SHOP awards (yes....you can do this every day) and here is a very easy link to get to it. (A huge thank you from the team at Annie’s)

This week’s recipe is for these tasty little biscuits that I made at the weekend.
Croatian Walnut Crescents
- 250 g softened butter
- 1 cup icing sugar
- 2 tsp lemon zest
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 ½ c flour
- ½ c finely chopped walnuts
Preheat the oven to 170C. Beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy and then add in the vanilla extract, flour and walnuts. Mix well and turn out onto a lightly floured board. Devide the mixture in four and shape these into logs – chill these in the fridge while you work on one piece at a time. Cut the log into small pieces and then roll these into crescent shapes and bake on a tray for about 15 mins until golden and firm.
Cool and dust with extra icing sugar.
Happy Stitching
