Annies Newsletter - Stocktaking Specials!

Hi there....well we are certainly having a crazy summer, with heaters, jackets and firewood coming to mind, rather than air conditioning and fans this week!

However, I feel for those people who are having to clean up after flood water has been through their homes.

23.2.18 1We are starting to think about stock taking once again (cringe), and if you are after some good deals keep an eye out on the newsletter, website and in store.

So far in my tidy up I have discovered some more of the mini-irons. These are a must have for beside your machine or for taking to class, and we are holding them at the special price of $59.00 (RRP: $72.00) until stocks last.

We also have one ex-symposium Bernina 350 machine left at the special price of $1699 (RRP: $2599.00) and I have managed to get hold of the very last B570 ex symposium machine $3999.00 (RRP: $4999.00) which is a saving of $1000.00. Be quick for this one!

I have been notified that the very popular Bernette Chicago 5 machines are being discontinued. These are now on special for $699 instead of $849.00. The Bernette 33 is also proving popular with beginner sewers or those people who like to have a machine on hand but don’t do a lot. It is well priced at $299.00 and comes with a full warranty and back up service.

23.2.18 2Don’t forget about the FREE Bernina classes coming up next month (22,23,25 March) with National Educator Julie Veck. More details on the class page of the website, and we still have a few places left in the Cherry Blossom Sashiko and the Kogin Purse classes with Jane McDonald from Bebe Bold. If you are into Japanese textiles and hand stitching you should not miss these ones!

The Woolly Stitchers meet this Saturday in the classroom for our regular monthly wool class.

The recipe this week is for a quick and easy relish that you can whip up in no time. It makes a small quantity and will keep covered in the fridge for about a week. It is great in a home-made burger of with cheese and biscuits.

Easy Beetroot Relish

  • 1/2 tbsp oil
  • ½ tsp yellow mustard seeds
  • 1 onion
  • 1 clove
  • ½ balsamic vinegar
  • 300 g cooked beetroot (grated)
  • 1/3 c sugar

Heat the oil in a small saucepan and add the mustard seeds. When the seeds start popping add the onion and clove. Cook gently until tender and then add the beetroot, vinegar and sugar and simmer for 15 mins stirring frequently. Season to taste and cook until the liquid is absorbed.

Take care and happy stitching
