Annie's Ramblings - 20 March 2019
Hi there. Today it is hard to know what to say. It has certainly been a week that we will never forget with the actions of one man in Christchurch last Friday sending shock waves throughout our community and around the world. I am sure we have all been affected by a range of emotions from shock, sadness, anger and grief as we try to make sense of it all.
For me, picking up a needle and thread or cranking up the sewing machine gives me space to think, and try to make sense of how we live in this world without giving oxygen to fear and hate. As stitchers, I think that this is something we have in common, giving us the courage and determination to strive to make the world a better place.
If you feel that you would like to support the families affected by this tragic event, perhaps you could lend a hand in helping me make some quilts as a way of showing our support and love. I am thinking heart blocks would send the right message...cream background with red hearts, be they applique, pieced or embroidered measuring 6 ½” cut (6 “ finished). You can send blocks or quilts (lap size) to us here at Annie’s and we will make sure that they get to the right people.
Thank you,
Rachel
