Annie's Ramblings - Keep warm and carry on!
Hi there. Along with the ongoing virus threats (both health and computer) we are probably a nation of ‘sore necks’ this week after spending ages standing in the dark gazing at the moon!
If you missed seeing the solar eclipse, maybe you can catch it in another 40 years. The best thing is that the sun still came up the next day!
Looking at the weather forecast this weekend is going to be a great weekend for sewing, cross stitch, cooking...eating and binge watching your favourites on the TV. Or you could come and join us at Annie’s for the Woolly Stitcher’s Day tomorrow (Saturday) if you would like to escape the family.
If you are looking for a new project, we have finally got the Sashiko Christmas Tree panel ($59.00) back in stock. As a bonus you also get a whole selection of Christmas decorations to stitch as well.
Jack (the bookwoman) has just finished this and it looks fabulous.
Back in stock also are the Horn sewing chairs. These chairs are on casters to allow for easy ‘scooting’ from the sewing machine to the ironing board...or to the fridge or the front door if required! They also have great lower back support and a hiding place under the seat for your chocolate stash. J
Now...on to the recipe. Cold weather and comfort food go together like apple pie and custard, and when you add raspberries it is even better!
Quick Raspberry and Apple Tart
1 sheet flaky pastry
2 cups frozen raspberries
1 grated apple
1/3 c icing sugar
2 tbsp cornflour
Preheat the oven to 210C. Thaw the pastry and place it on a baking tray.
Grate the apple into a bowl and add in the raspberries. Mix the icing sugar and cornflour together and then sprinkle over the fruit.
Pile the fruit into the middle of the pastry and then bring the corners towards the middle. Pinch the corners together firmly. Paint the pastry with milk or an egg wash if desired. Cook for 25-30 minutes and serve hot or cold with a dusting of icing sugar.
You could also try making individual pies.
Happy stitching
Rachel
