Annie's Ramblings - New Projects, New Fabric and new Books!
Hi there.
Well here we are at the end of May already with a few frosts and some snow on the hills to remind us that winter has arrived!
If you are looking for a cute little project that you can make for yourself or as a gift, “The Traveler Needle Keep” from Sue Spargo is a really cool idea. The kit is $42.00 (makes one needle keep) and we do have extra of the scissor braid ($8.50 pm) if you would like to make more than one. If you wanted to let your “creative” kick in, you could use the pattern template and embellish it with some Sue Spargo style wool applique and embroidery or crazy patch.
Speaking of embroidery, pre-orders for the new Inspirations publication “A Passion for Needlework”. This is the 4th edition in the series from “The Whitehouse Daylesford Cottage” featuring 12 brand new embroidery masterpieces from 12 exceptions designers. Order your copy today ($83.00) for delivery in October so that you don’t miss out.
We have lots of new fabrics in lately including the new range from Anni Downs from Hatched and Patched called “My Neighborhood” which is available by the metre, panel, fat quarters and 1/8th’s. There are lots of small prints as well as a gorgeous panel ($20.00) featuring lots of quirky houses. This is a link to a free pattern using the panel.

Now on to the recipe...this a great weekend breakfast treat that you can whip up in the air fryer (or the fry pan) and it is a great way to use up your stale bread. (If you have teenagers you probably don’t know what that is!!)
French Toast Sticks
Cut 4 thick slices of bread into large chips/wedges.
Whisk together:
- 2 eggs
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla essesence
- ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
Dip the bread into the egg mixture to coat and then set them aside for 5 minutes. Lightly spray with cooking oil and cook in batches in your air fryer until golden. Serve with your favourite topppings, sauces, fruit or bacon and maple syrup.
Have a great weekend and happy stitching,
Rachel
