Annie's Ramblings 17th December 2024 - Merry Christmas, and may Santa bring all you wish for!
Hi there and Merry Christmas! We have been away in Australia spending time with our delightful little grandson (and his parents ☺) and the month seems to have disappeared. However, having a small human in the mix does remind you what Christmas is all about.
If you are looking for some last minute gift ideas, we have had another shipment of beautiful books, DMC cabinets, LED lights more fabric and kits and gift vouchers are available too.
These beautiful pearl 8 thread sets are candy for stitchers with several different colour collections– almost too pretty to get out of the box ($59.00) they are perfect for wool applique, embroidery, crochet, needle weaving and so much more.
I am sure that before long we will be getting back to sun hat weather after what has been a very welcome and much needed couple of days of rain. This very cute little hat pattern “Sunny Dayz” from Tied with a Ribbon comes in two sizes 1-3 and 3-5 years. So easy to make that I am sure you will want to sew one for every day of the week! We have loads of gorgeous kids prints and Liberty prints that would be perfect for this projects and we have put together some fabric pack combinations together with the fusible interfacing to make it even easier for you.
To keep the creative juices alive over the Christmas break I thought I would also show you these new patterns which have just arrived in from Australian designer Wendy Williams. These are all on our website.

If Santa doesn’t deliver the goods, then it is not too late to make the most of the savings on Bernina and Bernette sewing machines and overlockers as the sale extends until December 31. There are some great savings on machines and 20% of accessories and trolley bags so don’t miss out!
We still have a couple of Kaffe Fassett’s special edition Bernina machines on special as well.
As a heads up, we will be taking a couple of days off over Christmas – closed December 25-29th and then January 1-2 for New Year.
Now…onto the recipe. I love cheese straws and I think this is the best recipe I have found. Super easy if you have a food processor.
Cheese Straws
- 2/3 cups flour
- 1 ¼ tsps dry mustard
- 1 tsp salt
- ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
- 2 ½ cups grated tasty cheese
- ½ c softened butter
- 2 tbsps chilled water
Preheat the over to 200C. Place all the ingredients except the water into the food processor and mix. Then add in the chilled water and mix again until the dough forms a ball.
Roll out the dough on a floured board to about 1 cm thick and cut into strips and place on a baking tray. Chill for 15 minutes and then bake until golden and crisp (about 12-14 minutes).
Happy stitching, and best wishes for a fabulous Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year!
