Spiced Onion Fritters
- 4 large onions
- 4 cloves garlic
- ¾ c chickpea flour
- ½ c plain flour
- 1 egg
- 1 ½ tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp chilli powder (or paprika for a milder taste)
- Vegetable oil for frying
Peel and slice the onions and garlic very finely. Mix the flours and the egg, soda and spice. Add enough water to make a smooth batter and then add in the onion and garlic.
Heat 2 cm of oil in a shallow pan and fry the fritters until golden. Drain on a paper towel and serve hot with sweet chilli sauce and mango chutney.
