Jardin De Poche by Veronique's Quilt Design

This delightful and small project is for both embroiderers and appliqué enthusiasts. A traditional shape, the orange peel, revisited and extended to include a mini garden, a “Jardin de Poche” (pocket garden). Whilst keeping the embroidery to 3 or 4 of the most traditional stitches  you will make some gorgeous flowers such as poppies ( my favorites), lilly of the valley , fuchsias, lavender, just to name some.

Jardin De Poche uses Cottage Garden hand dyed threads, hanky linen and Tana Liberty Lawn fabrics. This little project is easy to carry everywhere. You can extend it by making more than one block of each flowers or applique.

The acrylic template for the leaves is included.

Quilt size: 33" x 33"

** Rosie's Handy Hints

Having the right tools for the job is a really great place to start and will make life so much easier for this project and more to come!

- Tracing on your designs. The Pigma Micron pen, perfect for fine lines that will be covered by stitching. Secondly the Frixon Heat eraseable pen, just what you need for adding a little more detail or lines that you wish to remove by the wave of and iron in the future.

- Stabilising your design. Whisper Weft is key! An iron on stabiliser that keeps threads where they need to be.

Applique. Hugs 'n Kisses Applique Paper takes all the fear out of needle turn applique. All you need to do is cut out your desired shape, iron it to the wrong side of your fabric, fold over your seam allowance held in place with a dab from your Sewline fabric glue pen and voila you have perfectly crisp points and smooth edges.

Seek inspiration from the flowers blooming and have fun with it :)
